MAME 0.219

MAME 0.219 arrives today, just in time for the end of February! This month we’ve got another piece of Nintendo Game & Watch history – Pinball – as well as a quite a few TV games, including Dream Life Superstar, Designer’s World, Jenna Jameson’s Strip Poker, and Champiyon Pinball. The previously-added Care Bears and Piglet’s Special Day TV games are now working, as well as the big-endian version of the MIPS Magnum R4000. As always, the TV games vary enormously in quality, from enjoyable titles, to low-effort games based on licensed intellectual properties, to horrible bootlegs using blatantly copied assets. If music/rhythm misery is your thing, there’s even a particularly bad dance mat game in there.
On the arcade side, there are fixes for a minor but long-standing graphical issue in Capcom’s genre-defining 1942, and also a fairly significant graphical regression in Seibu Kaihatsu’s Raiden Fighters. Speaking of Seibu Kaihatsu, our very own Angelo Salese significantly improved the experience in Good E-Jan, and speaking of graphics fixes, cam900 fixed some corner cases in Data East’s innovative, but little-known, shoot-’em-up Boogie Wings. Software list additions include the Commodore 64 INPUT 64 collection (courtesy of FakeShemp) and the Spanish ZX Spectrum Load’N’Run collection (added by ICEknight). New preliminary CPU cores and disassemblers include IBM ROMP, the NEC 78K family, Samsung KS0164 and SSD Corp’s Xavix 2.
As always, you can get the source and 64-bit Windows binary packages from the download page.

As always, you can get the source and 64-bit Windows binary packages from the download page.

https://preview.redd.it/2fyzeasy35b41.png?width=967&format=png&auto=webp&s=b46f880cbb4fc189798973e673646b01ef6faa95

2019.09.01 19:37 Throwawaypt__ Alguém de IT/informática?

Boas, tenho 24 anos e estou a ponderar voltar a estudar.

Según la teoría de la ley de Metcalfe;

  • Seguro sinovate
  • Gobierno
  • Educación sinovate
  • Ir verde, ir sinovar

2018.10.07 00:59 jet_user Decred Journal – September 2018

Note: you can read this on GitHub (link), Medium (link) or old Reddit (link).

Development

Final version 1.3.0 of the core software was released bringing all the enhancements reported last month to the rest of the community. The groundwork for SPV (simplified payment verification) is complete, another reduction of fees is being deployed, and performance stepped up once again with a 50% reduction in startup time, 20% increased sync speed and more than 3x faster peer delivery of block headers (a key update for SPV). Decrediton's integrations of SPV and Politeia are open for testing by experienced users. Read the full release notes and get the downloads on GitHub. As always, don't forget to verify signatures.
dcrd: completed several steps towards multipeer downloads, improved introduction to the software in the main README, continued porting cleanups and refactoring from upstream btcd.
Currently in review are initial release of smart fee estimator and a change to UTXO set semantics. The latter is a large and important change that provides simpler handling, and resolves various issues with the previous approach. A lot of testing and careful review is needed so help is welcome.
Educational series for new Decred developers by @matheusd added two episodes: 02 Simnet Setup shows how to automate simnet management with tmux and 03 Miner Reward Invalidation explains block validity rules.
Finally, a pull request template with a list of checks was added to help guide the contributors to dcrd.
dcrwallet: bugfixes and RPC improvements to support desktop and mobile wallets.
Developers are welcome to comment on this idea to derive stakepool keys from the HD wallet seed. This would eliminate the need to backup and restore redeem scripts, thus greatly improving wallet UX. (missed in July issue)
Decrediton: bugfixes, refactoring to make the sync process more robust, new loading animations, design polishing.
Politeia: multiple improvements to the CLI client (security conscious users with more funds at risk might prefer CLI) and security hardening. A feature to deprecate or timeout proposals was identified as necessary for initial release and the work started. A privacy enhancement to not leak metadata of ticket holders was merged.
Android: update from @collins: "Second test release for dcrandroid is out. Major bugs have been fixed since last test. Latest code from SPV sync has been integrated. Once again, bug reports are welcome and issues can be opened on GitHub". Ask in #dev room for the APK to join testing.
A new security page was added that allows one to validate addresses and to sign/verify messages, similar to Decrediton's Security Center. Work on translations is beginning.
Overall the app is quite stable and accepting more testers. Next milestone is getting the test app on the app store.
iOS: the app started accepting testers last week. @macsleven: "the test version of Decred Wallet for iOS is available, we have a link for installing the app but the builds currently require your UDID. Contact either @macsleven or @raedah with your UDID if you would like to help test.".
Nearest goal is to make the app crash free.
Both mobile apps received new design themes.
dcrdata: v3.0 was released for mainnet! Highlights: charts, "merged debits" view, agendas page, Insight API support, side chain tracking, Go 1.11 support with module builds, numerous backend improvements. Full release notes here. This release featured 9 contributors and development lead @chappjc noted: "This collaboration with @raedahgroup on our own block explorer and web API for @decredproject has been super productive.".
Up next is supporting dynamic page widths site wide and deploying new visual blocks home page.
Trezor: proof of concept implementation for Trezor Model T firmware is in the works (previous work was for Model One).
Ticket splitting: updated to use Go modules and added simnet support, several fixes.
docs: beginner's guide overhaul, multiple fixes and cleanups.
decred.org: added 3rd party wallets, removed inactive PoW pools and removed web wallet.
@Richard-Red is building a curated list of Decred-related GitHub repositories.
Welcome to new people contributing for the first time: @klebe, @s_ben, @victorguedes, and PrimeDominus!
Dev activity stats for September: 219 active PRs, 197 commits, 28.7k added and 18.8k deleted lines spread across 6 repositories. Contributions came from 4-10 developers per repository. (chart)

Network

Hashrate: started and ended the month around 75 PH/s, hitting a low of 60.5 and a new high of 110 PH/s. BeePool is again the leader with their share varying between 23-54%, followed by F2Pool 13-30%, Coinmine 4-6% and Luxor 3-5%. As in previous months, there were multiple spikes of unidentified hashrate.
Staking: 30-day average ticket price is 98 DCR (+2.4). The price varied between 95.7 and 101.9 DCR. Locked DCR amount was 3.86-3.96 million DCR, or 45.7-46.5% of the supply.
Nodes: there are 201 public listening nodes and 325 normal nodes per dcred.eu. Version distribution: 5% are v1.4.0(pre) dev builds (+3%), 30% on v1.3.0 (+25%), 42% on v1.2.0 (-20%), 15% on v1.1.2 (-7%), 6% on v1.1.0. More than 76% of nodes run v1.2.0 and higher and therefore support client filters. Data as of Oct 1.

ASICs

Obelisk posted two updates on their mailing list. 70% of Batch 1 units are shipped, an extensive user guide is available, Obelisk Scanner application was released that allows one to automatically update firmware. First firmware update was released and bumped SC1 hashrate by 10-20%, added new pools and fixed multiple bugs. Next update will focus on DCR1. It is worth a special mention that the firmware source code is now open! Let us hope more manufacturers will follow this example.
A few details about Whatsminer surfaced this month. The manufacturer is MicroBT, also known as Bitwei and commonly misspelled as Bitewei. Pangolinminer is a reseller, and the model name is Whatsminer D1.
Bitmain has finally entered Decred ASIC space with their Antminer DR3. Hash rate is 7.8 TH/s while pulling 1410 W, at the price of $673. These specs mean it has the best GH/W and GH/USD of currently sold miners until the Whatsminer or others come out, although its GH/USD of 11.6 already competes with Whatsminer's 10.5. Discussed on Reddit and bitcointalk, unboxing video here.

Integrations

Meet our 17th voting service provider: decredvoting.com. It is operated by @david, has 2% fee and supports ticket splitting. Reddit thread is here.
For a historical note, the first VSP to support ticket splitting was decredbrasil.com:
@matheusd started tests on testnet several months ago. I contacted him so we could integrate with the pool in June this year. We set up the machine in July and bought the first split ticket on mainnet, using the decredbrasil pool, on July 19. It was voted on July 30. After this first vote on mainnet, we opened the tests to selected users (with more technical background) on the pool. In August we opened the tests to everyone, and would call people who want to join to the #ticket_splitting channel, or to our own Slack (in Portuguese, so mostly Brazilian users). We have 28 split tickets already voted, and 16 are live. So little more than 40 split tickets total were bought on decredbrasil pool. (@girino in #pos-voting)
KuCoin exchange listed DCBTC and DCETH pairs. To celebrate their anniversary they had a 99% trading fees discount on DCR pairs for 2 weeks.
Three more wallets integrated Decred in September:
ChangeNow announced Decred addition to their Android app that allows accountless swaps between 150+ assets.
Coinbase launched informational asset pages for top 50 coins by market cap, including Decred. First the pages started showing in the Coinbase app for a small group of testers, and later the web price dashboard went live.

Adoption

The birth of a Brazilian girl was registered on the Decred blockchain using OriginalMy, a blockchain proof of authenticity services provider. Read the full story in Portuguese and in English.

Marketing

Advertising report for September is ready. Next month the graphics for all the ads will be changing.
Marketing might seem quiet right now, but a ton is actually going on behind the scenes to put the right foundation in place for the future. Discovery data are being analyzed to generate a positioning strategy, as well as a messaging hierarchy that can guide how to talk about Decred. This will all be agreed upon via consensus of the community in the work channels, and materials will be distributed.
Next, work is being done to identify the right PR partner to help with media relations, media training, and coordination at events. While all of this is coming up to speed, we believe the website needs a refresher reflecting the soon to be agreed upon messaging, plus a more intuitive architecture to make it easier to navigate. (@Dustorf)

Events

Markets

In September DCR was trading in the range of USD 34-45 / BTC 0.0054-0.0063. On Sep 6, DCR revisited the bottom of USD 34 / BTC 0.0054 when BTC quickly dropped from USD 7,300 to 6,400. On Sep 14, a small price rise coincided with both the start of KuCoin trading and hashrate spike to 104 PH/s. Looking at coinmarketcap charts, the trading volume is a bit lower than in July and August.
As of Oct 4, Decred is #18 by the number of daily transactions with 3,200 tx, and #9 by the USD value of daily issuance with $230k. (source: onchainfx)
Interesting observation by @ImacallyouJawdy: while we sit at 2018 price lows the amount locked in tickets is testing 2018 high.

Coinbase announced new asset listing process and is accepting submissions on their listing portal. (decred)
The New York State Office of the Attorney General posted a study of 13 exchanges that contains many insights.
A critical vulnerability was discovered and fixed in Bitcoin Core. Few days later a full disclosure was posted revealing the severity of the bug. In a bitcointalk thread btcd was called 'amateur' despite not being vulnerable, and some Core developers voiced their concerns about multiple implementations. The Bitcoin Unlimited developer who found the bug shared his perspective in a blog post. Decred's vision so far is that more full node implementations is a strength, just like for any Internet protocol.

2016.10.21 20:37 bahamas10_ [SOMBRA] ITT I explain, reproduce, and verify all known hints and solutions thus far [PT. 3]

Sombra Overwatch ARG

Thank you everyone for the great responses I have received from Part 1 and Part 2 of this "series"... I present to you part 3!
DISCLAIMER: I didn't discover ANY of these hints - I only went through to verify and hopefully explain all of the findings from the community. This is not meant to reiterate or replace what The Wiki has, but instead is meant to provide very clear and very explicit steps to show that these hints can be reproduced and verified by others.
All code and assets referenced in this post can be found in my GitHub Sombra Repository released for free under the MIT License

A Moment In Crime

On Tuesday, October 18th, the progress bar on http://amomentincrime.com finally reached 100%.

amomentincrime.com

Pulling the source code now reveals:
$ curl amomentincrime.com

...Transmisi?n finalizada - finalizando carga...
...Carga finalizada. Unidad Bastion E-54 comprometida...

You can see mention of Bastion (E-54) being compromised, as well as what looks like an Overwatch version number in the comments

Overwatch Patch 10/19/2016

Bastion Beeps

A patch went out on Wednesday that made it so Bastion would start spewing out seemingly random beeps when in Dorado.
YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hkd__ceYm-Y
Reddit user DecimalPoint took the audio from it, ran it through Audacity, and extracted the waveform revealing binary morse code.
![Bastion Binary](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bahamas10/sombra/maste06-a-moment-in-crime/assets/bastion-binary.png)
Original Comment: https://www.reddit.com/Overwatch/comments/58bimb/bastion_dorado_sombra_beeps/d8z0ei2
Decoding the beeps as morse code we have the following output:
S Q O F J F B N I T I Z W G D X S D O

Bastion Morse Code

Vigenere Cipher

The next step was to take this string of letters and convert it to something meaningful.
Like the Mystery Achievement, a Vigenère cipher was used to encrypt this data. The key to the cipher is the last bit of data we found from the Skycoder Forum Post, [email protected]:[email protected]@.
$ cat bastion.txt SQOFJFBNITIZWGDXSDO $ cat bastion.txt ../04-mystery-achievement/vigenere-decode [email protected]:[email protected]@ ACCESSWWWLUMERICOMX
Adding spaces and punctuation for readability we get
Access www.lumerico.mx
Note: some Vigenere cipher algorithms online incorrectly handle special characters in the input or key - a proper cipher should strip special characters from the key and passthrough special characters from the input field.

Lumerico's Website

Phone Recording

Accessing the website we see a phone number at the bottom of the page
(510) 766-2726
Calling this phone number results in a pre recorded Spanish message that eventually gets cut off, and all that is heard is a womans voice reading numbers in Spanish (really awesome Blizzard!!)
Recording: https://soundcloud.com/jackwilsdon/510-766-2726a
Here are the numbers heard
5 2 4 1 3 static 23 4 14 8 6 18 17 23 21 18 15
Converting the numbers to letters by using their value to represent their spot in the alphabet (1 is a, 2 is b, etc.) we get:
$ cat numbers.txt ./numbers-to-text EBDAC WDNHFRQWURO
Now, running the result through a Caesar Cipher with the constant 23 we see:
$ cat numbers.txt ./numbers-to-text ../05-skycoder-forum-post/caeser-cipher 23 BYAXZ TAKECONTROL

Take Control

Ignoring the first section for now (used later), we have TAKECONTROL. This gets appended to the original URL which gives us http://lumerico.mx/TAKECONTROL

I'm congratulating you for getting in here. I only wanted to know if you were ready or not. (Hey, it's really difficult to get good help lately... you should see some of the clowns I'm working with). For now, let's continue with the true challenge: taking down Lumerico Corp president Guillermo Portero. Why? Because he's a greedy and corrupt man, and an abominable thief. His plan of bringing in line the most powerful and biggest zigurat the 1st of november us nothing more than a deceit, an elaborate plan by his gang to become even more influential in the people of Mexico and get more money. And who's gonna pay for that? Common people, the ones that are always forgotten.
I've started upgrading my protocols so that they are used to take down the Lumerico Corp infraestructure and Los Muertos are also trying to go against the corruption. Meanwhile, search the Lumerico Corp site for info we can use against the bastard, or better, get his username and password so that hundreds "not so favorable" facts about the president start popping up.
I was able to get the username and pass of a Lumerico Corp employee, start here:
GFlores/g#fNwP5qJ

Lumerico Login

This is where it gets fun - we can now login to the Lumerico website using the above username and password! Sombra's turning us into the hackers? Using us as her personal army?
Login page: https://lumerico.mx/login
The username is GFlores and the password is g#fNwP5qJ - it's common practice to separate username and password with a single / character.

Emails

There are a lot of emails to sift through, but the most important one seems to be this one:

Hello, Gonzo: Can you see traffic https://lumerico.mx/president-bypass? William should be the only page by pointing your private home, but seems to be having a lot of traffic. We may have to escalate this to Miss Jimenez, but I want to be sure it's worth your time.

It basically says there is a page for the President to login

President Bypass Source Code Comment

Page: https://lumerico.mx/president-bypass
When trying to load the page we get an Access Denied page (though, funny enough, the site actually returns a 200 OK and not a 403 error as you would expect).
$ curl -sI https://lumerico.mx/president-bypass head -1 HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Not strictly important - just thought it was worth noting. Looking in the source code there is a very interesting comment:
$ curl -sS https://lumerico.mx/president-bypass grep -o ''
The /.git/ line is giving is a hint that this president-bypass section of the website is controlled by Git - source code revision control software.

President Bypass Source Code

Hidden Git Repository

Doing web requests for git style files reveals something interesting.
$ curl -sSI https://lumerico.mx/president-bypass/.git head -1 HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden $ curl -sSI https://lumerico.mx/president-bypass/.git/HEAD head -1 HTTP/1.1 200 OK $ curl -sSI https://lumerico.mx/president-bypass/.git/config head -1 HTTP/1.1 200 OK
The directory listings on this webserver have been disabled (we get a 403 when hitting ./git directly) but the files inside the repository seem to be accessible if you know the URLs.
NOTE: HEAD and config are common file names for git repositories - I only know this because I've worked with git for source control almost exclusively for the last ~6 years.
GitDumper was used by some on Reddit (can't find original link, sorry!) to pull as many files as they could to rebuild the git repository locally to find any interesting files. I personally could not get gitdumper.sh to work because it made a lot of assumptions about the version of grep installed and how it was compiled.
So instead, I wrote my own program in node based on GitDumper called git-dump to do this. Running it, we can rebuild the repository:
$ npm install -g git-dump $ git dump https://lumerico.mx/president-bypass/.git president-bypass ... $ cd president-bypass $ git log commit 677d90499d571221e2ec71914e56aee35afa9340 Author: pedro  Date: Wed Oct 12 20:09:41 2016 -0400 president auth bypass Signed-off-by: pedro  $ git ls-files class.authentication.php class.president-bypass.php login.php style.css
The full output is a bit long and can be found here. The 4 files found can also be seen formatted nicely here.
There are a couple things to note
  1. There is only 1 commit so the code was very easy to extract
  2. The file corrupted text seems to have been added manually (on purpose)

PHP code checked in

The code files are in PHP: PHP is a server-side language used commonly for web applications. Because the code is executed on the server, it is impossible for us to know (without the source code) what exactly is happening. However, now that we have the President's encrypted password in class.president-bypass.php:
private $encrypted_password = "?MzY:MTI5:?AzY:OWM?:?EDO:ZGU?:jVTM:MTJm:2ITM:MTUw:?QjY:OWY?:?kTO:MTQx:?MzY";
as well as the encrypt function in class.authentication.php:
public function encrypt($password) { $passArray = str_split($password); $encrypted = array(); foreach($passArray as $char) { $salt = count($encrypted); $char = base64_encode(dechex(ord($this->str_rot($char,($salt+3)))*3)); if($salt % 2 == 0) $char = strrev($char); array_push($encrypted, $char); } $encrypted = implode(":", $encrypted); $encrypted = str_replace("=", "?", $encrypted); return $encrypted; }
We can reverse engineer it and create our own decrypt function to get the President's password!

The President's Password

Using the logic in encrypt(), we can take the President's encrypted password and decrypt it. This line in the code basically has the meat of the encryption function:
$char = base64_encode(dechex(ord($this->str_rot($char,($salt+3)))*3));
Indenting it, we get
base64_encode( dechex( ord( $this->str_rot( $char, ($salt + 3) ) ) * 3 ) );
Or in pesudo-code
str_rot($char, ($salt + 3) ord(result) dechex(result) base64_encode(result)

Reverse Engineering the Encryption

To create the program decrypt-password I had to reverse all of the functions used. For example, ord (convert ascii to numerical value) required its compliment chr (convert number to ascii representation), dechex (convert decimal to hex) required its compliment hexdec (convert hex to decimal), base64_encode required base64_decode, and str_rot doesn't have a compliment in code. To reverse a rot-n of a number you just use 26 - n. For example, a rot-2 can be undone with a rot-24.
Writing all of that logic, the command line program can be used to decrypt the password:
$ ./decrypt-password '?MzY:MTI5:?AzY:OWM?:?EDO:ZGU?:jVTM:MTJm:2ITM:MTUw:?QjY:OWY?:?kTO:MTQx:?MzY' [email protected]+Bkuqd<53uJ
Using the username GPortero (based off the login in the PHP file) and this password, we can login and see the President's emails

The President's Email

After browsing the email for a bit, a new email came in from #Mantenimiento<#[email protected]> which translates to maintenance with the subject Buen Trabajo, or Good Job and signed with a skull image.
Translated
I see you have been able to infiltrate in your mail.
Do not worry, he can not see this email, I've hidden from view if you connect from one of the known IP addresses.
I need a little more time to set the next group of protocols. Stay tuned early next week. I'll take a few dirty rags in their emails to be filtered to the public "accidentally". We'll see how they react to the media.

Conclusion

It looks like we are waiting until next week for anything more!

Sombra Overwatch ARG

I've been hanging out in the Game Detectives Discord for a while now, and have been keeping up pretty closely with all of the latest developments. The Sombra Game Detectives Wiki is incredibly useful for checking the current status of the ARG, as well as to see all of the clues and hints found with their solutions.
However, there have been a couple of theories that haven't panned out, or have just been simply made up: i.e. the "summer games" banner in the game allegedly showing a waveform, that was falsely converted to DTMF (phone) dial tones and then decoded. Because of this and some of the misinformation being passed around I want to take the time to:
  1. Break down and fully explain all of the solutions we have
  2. Reproduce and verify all of the solutions we have
  3. Show all steps to reproduce and verify all of the solutions so others can do it too
A lot of information and tools in this post can also be found in my Sombra GitHub Repository. You can click the titles of each clue to be taken to a folder on GitHub with all of the tools and programs referenced.

Who Am I?

I'm a huge fan of Overwatch and do Software Engineering for a living and music recording for fun. Because of this, I've written a lot of code to verify these clues, and am also working on a new song influenced by the sky code song :D
Note: I'm not trying to take credit for any of the work done to figure out these clues; I did not initially discover any of these solutions - I'm just recreating the steps taken to solve the clues given.

Hex xor and utf-8 conversion

To crack this we have to convert each character to ascii first, and xor the hex value with 23 (Sombra being the 23rd hero to be released) if the character is NOT a "." or " ". Then, take the new xor'd value and convert the entire collection of numbers to utf-8.

Notice the following
  1. no line breaks
  2. "." and " " had to be skipped in the cipher
  3. first message ends with "...somb" and the second begins with "ra..."

Results

We have the translated phrase "She who has the information, has the power..." repeated a number of times, as well as the term sombra (uncapitalized).
Massaging the data by injecting a newline after every occurrence of "..." yields something slightly easier to see:

2. Dev Update Video

  • Status: Solved / Verified
On July 19, 2016, a developer update video for the new Overwatch hero named Ana was released.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evghkilg2eQ
At the very end of the video, there flash 4 distinct frames that flash and look meaningless at first. In order of appearance:
These frames were extracted from the video by downloading the original 1080p video from YouTube, and then running the following command to extract all frames at the end of the video.
ffmpeg -ss 00:12:21.000 -i ana-video.mp4 -r 30/1 ana-frame-%03d.png
I then manually pulled out the 4 distinct frames from the resulting images

Barcodes in Frame 3

In frame 3 there are 9 distinct barcodes running vertically through the image. We know the frame is 1080p resolution, so the width must be 1920px, but we can verify this with:
$ identify assets/ana-frame-3.png assets/ana-frame-3.png PNG 1920x1080 1920x1080+0+0 8-bit sRGB 146KB 0.000u 0:00.000
The image can be chopped into 9 distinct parts knowing this information
$ echo '1920 / 9' bc 213
Each barcode should be 213 pixels wide, however upon closer inspection, it appears some are slightly longer than others. To compensate, 100px wide shots were extracted every 220 pixels.
for i in {0..8}; do convert -crop "100x1080+$((220*i))x0" ana-frame-3.png "ana-barcode-$i.png" done

Reading the Barcodes

To read these barcodes unfortunately I could not find a good command line utility, however this website works really well as it allows you to pass in a URL.
http://www.onlinebarcodereader.com/
Using the raw GitHub URLs, this be done easily for the following 9 images

Barcodes to hex

Reading the 9 barcodes give us the following hex output (in order)
$ cat hex.txt FEC-820-BA9-BAD-BAF-824-FEA-5-F28-980-5B0-F59 4B1-2C7-F83-748-7F4-719-AAA-2C8-1F6-47C-5A8-DBA 7F-1541-85D-E5D-35D-1C41-157F-500-49D-122-11D8-D9C 279-919-4AA-800-1E9-308-3F1-EDC-CB3-602-DE9-8 153-690-BF0-CA1-2B-D03-9C8-866-DF7-EF9-C21-20 1FD7-1F79-1582-1252-806-1B4B-1FB7-1050-532-9A9-1870-1FEF 3A0-A43-AFF-793-658-C-FE4-821-BA4-BA8-BAA-82F-FED B6A-BD4-496-324-A2F-3C3-78E-723-634-B9-287-EFA-172 1B5E-17F9-83D-160-1BFE-1D14-956-318-5F1-6D7-1BC-C24-18CF

Hex to Binary QR Code

The final step is to convert the hex to binary, rearrange it a bit, and make a QR code out of it (where 0 is white and 1 is black).
$ cat hex.txt ./hex-to-binary 1111111011000100101100010000001111111 1000001000000010110001111010101000001 1011101010011111100000110100001011101 1011101011010111010010000111001011101 1011101011110111111101000001101011101 1000001001000111000110011110001000001 1111111010101010101010101010101111111 0000000001010010110010000010100000000 1111001010000001111101100010010011101 1001100000000100011111000000100100010 0101101100000101101010001000111011000 1111010110011101101110100110110011100 0010011110010001010100111111111010111 1001000110010110100100001111101111001 0100101010101011111100001010110000010 1000000000001100101000011001001010010 0001111010010000001010110100000000110 0011000010001101000000111101101001011 0011111100011001110010001111110110111 1110110111001000011001101000001010000 1100101100111101111101110010100110010 0110000000101110111110010100110101001 1101111010011100001000011100001110000 0000000010000000001000001111111101111 0011101000001011011010101101101011110 1010010000111011110101001011111111001 1010111111110100100101100100000111101 0111100100110011001001000000101100000 0110010110001010001011111101111111110 0000000011000011110000111110100010100 1111111001000111100011100100101010110 1000001000010111001000110001100011000 1011101001000110001101000010111110001 1011101010000000101110010011011010111 1011101010100010100001110000110111100 1000001011111110111110100110000100100 1111111011010001011100101100011001111
Now using the bundled tool binary-to-qr we can get a legible QR code on the terminal, or we can put it in the Binary to QR Code converter I made it specifically for this ARG.
Generated QR Code

Scan QR code

When the code is scanned we see:

Was that easy? Well, now that I have your attention, allow me to make things much more difficult
Things are about to get really tough... we have our work cut out for us

3. Summer Games Video

  • Unsolved
On July 19, 2016, a video for the new Overwatch Summer games was released.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpcOD9tJM4k

Tracer's Trail

For a single frame at 0:08 into the video, a code is seen in Tracer's trail
Transcribed, it is
$ cat base64.txt U2FsdGVkX1+vupppZksvRf5pq5g5XjFRIipRkwB0K1Y96Qsv2Lm+31cmzaAILwytX/z66ZVWEQM/ccf1g+9m5Ubu1+sit+A9cenDxxqkIaxbm4cMeh2oKhqIHhdaBKOi6XX2XDWpa6+P5o9MQw==
Decoding it, it appears to be an OpenSSL encrypted file with an unknown passphrase and cipher.
$ base64 -D base64.txt Salted__???ifK/E?i??9^1Q"*Q?t+V=? /ع??W/ ?_???V?q????f?F???"??=q????!?[?? z?*?Z???u?\5?k???LC
NOTE: copying and pasting these characters from this document will not work properly.

Decrypting the code

The command to decrypt the file will look like this, where aes-256-cbc will be substituted for the correct cipher.
$ openssl enc -aes-256-cbc -d -in decoded.enc enter aes-256-cbc decryption password:
At the time of this writing, both the cipher and passphrase are unknown

Compass

Purposefully omitted from this post as it doesn't require technical analysis (as far as we know at least)

4. Dorado Screenshot

  • Solved / Verified
A new screenshot of Dorado was uploaded on the Play Overwatch media page.

Glitched Dorado Picture

It was discovered that the picture had been "Data Moshed"; Basically, some bytes were modified in the original image to create the glitched image. Comparing the modified bytes to those found in the original (a byte-by-byte diff, or difference) revealed a message.
Moshed Diff: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The glitched image had certain bytes swapped for ! characters, and when those bytes were extracted from the original image, that message was revealed.
Translating it we see:
"Why are you looking at the sky? The answer isn't over your heads, it's behind you. Sometimes, you need to analyze your previous achievements."

Results

  1. RIP Sky Code - you will be missed
  2. Look at Overwatch achievements

5. Mystery Achievement

  • Not Known If Finished / Verified
A new achievement was added to the Play Overwatch page for logged in users with an upside-down question mark as the icon.

Mystery Achievement

Viewing the source of the HTML page right above the achievement, a comment can be seen:

Translating it, we see
Damn, not bad. However, I'm getting bored. Let's try something new in the same direction. uczihriwgsxorxwunaarawryqhbrsfmeqrjjmu 5552E494 78T3 4VM9 OPL6 IS8208O913KRlrx
A Vigenère cipher was used to encrypt this data, and the key used was derived from the name of the heroes as they appear on the Compass discovered from the Summer Games video (see The Game Detectives Wiki for a more thorough explanation of the compass).

Decrypting the code

$ cat code.txt uczihriwgsxorxwunaarawryqhbrsfmeqrjjmu 5552E494 78T3 4VM9 OPL6 IS8208O913KRlrx
Using the passphrase tracertorbjornwinstonsymmetradvamercybastiongenjimccree the data can be deciphered to the following:
$ cat code.txt ./vigenere-decode tracertorbjornwinstonsymmetradvamercybastiongenjimccree blzgdapiproaakamaihdnetmediascreenshot 5552E494 78B3 4CE9 ACF6 EF8208F913CFjpg
Adding slashes, dots, hyphens, etc. this output can be turned into an image URL.
https://blzgdapipro-a.akamaihd.net/media/screenshot/5552E494-78B3-4CE9-ACF6-EF8208F913CF.jpg

Extracting the hidden data

The original image is a Screenshot of Volskaya from the Overwatch media page, much like the original Dorado data mosh.
Using the same diff-mosh tool, we can extract the data:
$ ../tools/diff-mosh assets/volskaya-screenshot-004.jpg assets/5552E494-78B3-4CE9-ACF6-EF8208F913CF.jpg 1549 differences Original Diff: Parece que te gustan estos jueguitos... por que no jugamos uno de verdad? :[email protected]: ,[email protected]@[email protected]@[email protected] [email protected]@[email protected]@[email protected]@Nr :[email protected]@@@[email protected]@[email protected], :[email protected]@[email protected]@[email protected]@@[email protected]@BBu. Interesting points to note
  1. The replaced characters in the mosh are ! - same as Dorado
  2. There is a newline character after the Spanish sentence, but nowhere else in the data

Translate the hint

Translated becomes
It seems you like these little games... Why don't we play a real one?

The skull

The lines in the "Original Diff" that have a lot of strings like "MOMOM" appears to be ascii art, but the newlines are missing. By arbitrarily guessing, we can see that if a newline is added every 59th character, a skull emerges.

Currently, we are not sure if the skull is a puzzle itself or not.

Conclusion

This is where we are now, we have:
  1. An encrypted file from the Tracer trail in the summer games video with a missing passphrase
  2. A skull that may or may not itself be a puzzle
I realize there are a lot of technical details in this post, but hopefully it can help clear up some information, or at least show that all the clues in this post have been successfully reproduced and verified.

1. Vigenere Cipher Code mistake

Thanks to grimmlingur in the comments for noticing my Vigenere output was incorrect - there was a bug in my code that I fixed on a different computer but didn't commit to the repository with handling upper case letters. The commit is here.

2. Hex/Xor Cipher Code mistake

Thanks to Nodja in the comments for 1. explaining text encoding and 2. pointing out my bug with ascii vs utf-8. The commit is here.

1. Negociação direta (P2P / pessoa a pessoa)
